First Night in Our Forever Home

Friday night was our first night in our little studio.

As we say here in Texas, YEE-HAW!

It was sweet.

We came over kind of late from Mom's house.  I know what you are thinking, "Cut the cord, already"  I know, I know.

Anyway, the first thing we did was put up a big ol' piece of cardboard (a used, cut up Home Depot box) in the front commercial glass door so we could walk around in our skivvies and not offend anyone.

Can Casa Causpanic make an impression or what?

Hey, it would have been a lot easier to use foil.

We still have not decided what we are going to do with that commercial business door.  It would take a custom door to replace it and dangit, those just cost too much.

So, in the meantime, nothing says, "Welcome", like the Home Depot logo.

Then we sat down to watch The Switch.  Our first movie night, yay!

I totally loved the movie, by the way.

It was SO incredible to sleep in our very own bed.  Hello, Lover...the bed, not Ronnie. Not that night, anyway.

Hello?  Anybody still out there?

Anyway, it was so funny to hear all the new sounds to which we will soon be oblivious.  Not much vehicle traffic noise, no dogs barking, although our neighbors may be disappointed to know that will soon change.  Not that our babies are nuisance barkers, but they do bark at unusual noises.  Come to think of it, we did have some neighbors in Corpus Christi that said they were getting the hell out of our neighborhood moving because of our dogs.  I think it was the police that actually relayed that to us.   Hmmm.  Anyway....

It was a good nights sleep.

It felt great to wake up in our own place.  Ronnie went and got bacon, bean and cheese tacos for breakfast and got back just in time for us to watch Pioneer Woman's new cooking show on the Food Network.

Young House Love was my very first blog love.  It's been almost a year now and I still get that nervous feeling as I wait for their page to come up.  I still check their blog two or three times a day in hopes that they have posted an extra post for the day.  Equivalent, I would say, to calling a new love interest four or five times a day.  I only check on them twice a day...I don't want to scare them off.

Anyway, I fell in love with Pioneer Woman's blog soon after that.  I love Ree...and her family...and her animals...her recipes...and now her show!  I love the format of it too.  They are all just so natural.

I kinda changed the subject, huh?

We still have dusty concrete floors and stuff everywhere, but here we are.

And we have only set off the security alarm twice.

There we go again with that good impression.

The cops only came once, so we still have 2 false alarms to blow.

We went and bought groceries on Saturday evening.  It kind of helped to make it seem more like a reality that this is home.

I am seriously thinking about cancelling my beloved French door refrigerator.

We have a little one for the mean time and it actually handled our groceries well.  We bought enough veggies to make smoothies for a couple of days, a roast and a whole chicken and there is still room for more.  I keep wondering why we are spending so much for something that a $125 refrigerator is handling well.  I know, I know...because the French door, ice and water dispensing fridges are so dang handy and beautiful!!!

Yeah, sure, we will have to go to the grocery store every couple of days, but dang, Ronnie is retired and I am unemployed!  What the heck else do we have to do.  Seriously.

But, I want it.  But, I have what I need.  I really want that to be enough,...but I really love that fridge.  The fridge doesnt ship until the 7th.  Maybe I will cancel it for now.

Read my lips, "I SAID, 'MAYBE'".

I changed the subject again, didn't I?

Anyway, we bought lots of veggies as we are going to try to do juices and smoothies and only have one cooked meal with animal protein a day, at the most.

Read my lips...

"WE ARE GOING TO TRY".

I need to.  I am so dang chunky and I feel like...well...crap.  I think we will make some videos.  It seems like fun and it will document not only what we will be moving from, but also recipes.   There are a few folks on YouTube I love to watch.  I'll put some links up in a future post.

Dangme.

Back to the topic at hand...we are here now.  I was sitting on the cold concrete floor because I hadn't been able to set up the wireless internet yet.

I was tied down by an ethernet cord.

How retro.

But then I figured something out and set up a little space for myself because my cute little hiney was getting numb from sitting on the floor.

Yeah, that is still the tag on the cane chairs.

I will close this post now and put the dream out there of a day when I will be sitting on a comfy sectional or chaise lounge with my IPad (no, I don't have one, but, hey, it is a dream) and a cup of warm tea, my dogs at my feet and my husband out fishing or hunting.  We will get there and we hope you will hang out with us often and enjoy the transformations.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!
